A Michigan man is facing charges after Oxford County OPP observed a vehicle travelling at 191 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

Police say they observed the vehicle at nearly double the speed limit westbound on Highway 401, east of Highway 19, around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

As a result, 44-year-old Amritpal Hayer of Belleville, Michigan has been charged with changing lanes not in safety, fail to surrender permit for vehicle and racing a motor vehicle.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days and Hayer's driver's licence was suspended.

Police are reminding drivers that high-risk behaviour puts everyone at risk, and motorists should manage their time and respect the rules of the road.
