Middlesex County OPP say a 30-year-old London man is facing charges after he fled police during an attempted traffic stop early Tuesday.

Police were called to the area of Highway 402 and Longwoods Road shortly after midnight for complaints of an erratic driver.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled and continued into the City of London, but was eventually stopped.

After the being transported to a police station for tests, the driver, Jeffrey Hagan, was charged with:

  • driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood
  • driving while ability impaired
  • flight while pursued by peace officer
  • dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • possession of cannabis resin under one gram

Hagan was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in a London court on Aug. 12th.

The OPP is reminding drivers that crashes related to alcohol or drugs kill four Canadians and injure 175 every day, and people are encouraged to contact police if they suspect someone is driving while impaired.
