More than 1500 paddlers took to the waters of Fanshawe Lake for the annual Dragon Boat races.

This year, money raised went to the London health Sciences Foundation.

Teams gathered for all kinds of reasons.

The event is organized by London based Row-Bust.

The dragon boat team stages a half dozen such events across Canada every summer and will travel to Italy later next year to spread their message of good health.

"We've realized that we're in front of our computers, we're not having fun, we're not outside enjoying the great outdoors. We just want to get people out on Fanshawe Lake, get them in boats, get them having some fun, do some team building," says Linda Kuska.

"Help support things that patients or things that their families cant afford when they're undergoing cancer treatment. Things like prosthesis and wigs and transportation and babysitting. So it stays in our local community, it stays with local cancer survivors," Kuska adds.
