He died in combat nearly seven years ago, making the ultimate sacrifice for his country.

Trooper Mark Wilson of London was fatally wounded when a roadside bomb detonated near a NATO patrol in Afghanistan in 2006.

But his death continues to leave a lasting legacy for those served before him.

On Saturday, the 4th annual Trooper Mark Wilson Ride took place at Parkwood Hospital to benefit veterans at the facility.

The day also consisted of a special wreath laying ceremony, vintage military vehicle display and live music.

"Mark would say, you know what? Let's do it and forget the price and in the end, the ultimate price was mark's own life," says Carl Wilson, Mark's father.

Bikers from around the area couldn't imagine a better way to give back.

"I thought you know, we've got our own Canadian hero here from the Afghanistan conflict and that's Trooper Mark Wilson. So I kind of put two and two together there and thought, you know what? Here's an idea," says Derrick McLichey.

"In the motorcycling world, it's a tight knit world and people and people come together and it's Canadians coming together and supporting our veterans. We're ensuring that Mark will not be forgotten," " adds McLichey.
