Police continue to be inundated with calls reporting someone posing as an agent with the Canada Revenue Agency.

OPP say it is rampant throughout the province and some police centres are receiving 100 calls a day or more from people reporting the scam.

The scam can come in the form of a text message, email or phone call.

Police say members of the public do not need to alert police, unless you are a victim of fraud related to this scam, but instead should call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or go to their website.

This website provides an online means of reporting and offers tips to avoid becoming a victim of this or any other fraud.

The Canada Revenue Agency website also assists the public in recognizing this and other scams that are plaguing Canadians.
