WINDSOR, Ont. - U.S.-bound motorists were being warned of lengthy delays at the Windsor and Sarnia border crossings due to "computer issues" on the U.S. side.

A spokesman at U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Detroit says the computer issues arose during the early morning rush hour.

Ken Hammond says the issues caused major delays for commercial traffic at the Ambassador Bridge between Windsor and Detroit.

He says the slowdowns have nothing to do with Remembrance Day or Veterans Day.

Traffic was also backed up at the crossing in Sarnia, where technical issues were also reported.

Police were reminding drivers not to block intersections and to remain patient.

The problems were reportedly cleared around 4 p.m. and traffic began moving again.
