Provincial police say that Highway 401 eastbound was temporarily closed this morning between Union Road and Colonel Talbot Road to remove a rolled tractor trailer.

The collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, when a tractor trailer entered the centre ditch.

OPP say the driver of the tractor trailer lost control at Dodd’s creek and demolished his tractor trailer and the guard rail.

For a time, both sides of the highway were affected, with only single lanes open each way.

The driver of the tractor trailer was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

One lane of the 401 eastbound at the scene will remain closed for the next 36 to 48 hours to facilitate environmental clear up as some diesel fuel from the trucks tanks spilled and guardrail replacement.
