Get ready to bust out the winter coats for Halloween, as Environment Canada issues a special weather statement for parts of southern Ontario.

According to the weather authority, parts of Grey, Bruce and Haliburton County could see the first significant snowfall of the season on Friday.

The snow is expected to accompany a low pressure system that is developing over Lake Superior. The system is forecast to hit the lower Great Lakes on Friday.

Wet snow or snow could start to fall overnight and continue on Halloween. Environment Canada says current models are predicting five to 10 centimetres of snow.

Snow is expected dissipate early Saturday morning.
