It’s likely going to be a wild ride for Santa Claus, as strong wind gusts move into London-Middlesex and surrounding counties.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning, with southwest winds that could bring gusts as strong as 90 km/h to the region.

Residents living along northeastern Lake Erie could even see winds as high as 100 km/h.

The weather authority says the winds are part of a low pressure system moving across the southern United States. The strong gusts are expected to arrive Wednesday night and carry into Christmas Day.

The system could also bring a cold front across the region late Wednesday.

Environment Canada warns that these gusts could prove damaging to roofs and windows. Loose objects could also be tossed around.

Motorists travelling for the Christmas holidays should be prepared for difficult driving conditions especially on highways exposed to strong and gusty cross winds.

The warning comes after thick fog blanketed much of the area Wednesday morning.
