Environment Canada has issued a snow squall warning for the eastern parts of Middlesex and Elgin County, Oxford, Huron and Perth Counties, plus southern Bruce County.

Snow squalls are expected to continue in the northwest winds off Lake Huron today. Additional snow amounts of 10 to 15 cm are possible before the squalls weaken early in the evening on Sunday, Jan. 8.

Weather conditions can vary considerably during the squalls. Changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow.

Snow squall warnings are issued when bands of snow form that produce intense accumulating snow or near zero visibility.
