A break and enter and arson investigation is underway following an early morning alarm response at a downtown London restaurant.

Just before 4:30 a.m. London firefighters responded to a report of smoke at the Black George Restaurant at 349 Talbot St. just south of King Street.

Officers on scene said that most of the damage was limited to the back of the restaurant and the point of entry.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly and damage was limited to $1,000. There was no damage to any of the residential units above the restaurant.

Police along with an inspector from the Ontario Fire Marshal are on scene to investigate the incident.
