The London Humane Society says a man has been charged after a cat was found with life-threatening injuries.

An investigations officer responded after the organization was alerted to suspicious circumstances surrounding a seriously injured cat.

The cat was removed and immediately taken to a veterinarian, but had to be euthanized due to the severity of its injuries.

A 22-year-old London man is now facing four charges under animal cruelty legislation including; causing distress, permitting distress, failing to provide necessary care and failing to comply with an Ontario SPCA Act order.

He is scheduled to appear in court in January 2016 to face the charges.
