Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for portions of Midwestern Ontario.

They include the areas of Saugeen Shores, Kincardine, Wingham,  Blyth and Goderich.

Possible high levels of pollution are expected today.

Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon.

Individuals may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath.

Children, seniors and those with cardiovascular or lung disease are especially at risk and should avoid exposure to the elements until the statement is lifted.
