Aboutown is suspending its airbus operations to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.

While some customers will be taken to the airport over the weekend, as of Monday, the service is put on hold.

About 20 staff, including drivers, dispatchers and wash bay workers, were given a 12-week layoff notice.

Aboutown owner Jim Donnelly hopes to re-visit the move in December. He says the mistaken belief that the company has gone into receivership has hurt business, but he expects it to pick up again.

“I think you've seen the end of the impact. It's been a pretty hard hit on the customer and staff side,” he says.

The company will refund customers who have already paid for the service.
