An OPP service dog has died after being struck by a passing car in Centre Wellington Township.
Wellington County OPP says a canine officer was conducting an exercise with his police service dog Dekker, when the German Shepherd ran across the road and was struck by a car.
The 9-year-old was transported to a local veterinary hospital where he died from his injuries. Dekker served with the OPP for roughly seven years.
The investigation is ongoing.
